E.G. MacRaven has always been fascinated by the stories we inherit—the family legends, folklore, half-remembered histories, and old tales that quietly shape who we become. Drawn to Gothic literature from an early age, she grew up believing that the best stories leave the door between the ordinary and the impossible slightly ajar.

Her fiction explores the places where history, psychology, folklore, and the supernatural collide, usually with a little romance and humor along the way. She is particularly interested in characters who discover that the past is not nearly as finished with them as they thought.

The name E.G. MacRaven carries its own inheritance. “E.G.” honors Experience, a Quaker ancestor from Massachusetts, while MacRaven reaches into another branch of her family's history in the mountains of North Carolina. Like the stories she writes, the name is assembled from pieces of the past carried forward into something new.

When she isn't writing, MacRaven can usually be found reading old books, wandering historic places, or asking questions that probably should have been left alone.
